What is Building and Control line ?

 As a Civil Engineer, this term is definitely important to know before preparing a building plan. It is also important for every citizen to have a basic idea.

What is Building Line?

It is the line up to which the plinth of a building adjoining a street or an extension of a street or on a future street may lawfully extended. The minimum distance of this building line from the centre line of the adjacent road is laid down as the limit beyond where the construction work is not allowed towards the road.

Control Line?

Public buildings such as cinema halls, factories, business centres, etc., where crowds attract large numbers of vehicles, should be set back a further distance apart from the building line. The line up to which such buildings are constructed is known as the control line.

The distance of the control line is taken as 1.5 times of building line which is generally measured from the centre line of roadways.
